Feature: Grafana Integration
Dashboards.
Overview
Most teams that would use Nova already have Grafana dashboards they trust. The Grafana integration is shaped around that reality: surface Nova insights inside Grafana, drill from Nova back to Grafana panels, and keep authentication on whatever the team already configured. No migration, no parallel surface to learn.
- Dashboard plugin. Nova surfaces appear as panels inside existing Grafana dashboards; on-call does not leave the surface they already trust.
- Alert routing. Grafana alerts route into Nova for triage and correlation while keeping Grafana as the source-of-truth dashboard layer.
- Bi-directional drill-down. Click a Nova insight to land on the relevant Grafana panel; click a Grafana metric to see the Nova investigation around it.
- SSO and team sync. Authentication and team membership flow through the existing identity provider; no parallel access list to maintain.
The approach
Non-disruptive integration is the entire design goal. Customers should be able to install the plugin in 10 minutes, opt in panel by panel, and keep their existing dashboards exactly as they were.
- One-click plugin install. Standard Grafana plugin distribution; no fork, no custom build, no parallel binary to deploy.
- Existing dashboards preserved. The customer's Grafana setup is not modified; Nova adds optional panels where the customer chooses.
- Opt-in panel surfacing. Teams adopt Nova panels at their own pace, dashboard by dashboard, instead of cutting over wholesale.
- Documented setup and rollback. Step-by-step install and a clean uninstall path so trying Nova is genuinely low-risk.
Why this compounds
Meeting teams in the surface they already use compounds across every adoption: faster onboarding, lower switching cost, and Nova insights that show up where on-call is already looking.
- Faster adoption. Teams on Grafana can try Nova without learning a new dashboard tool.
- Faster incident response. Nova insights appear next to the metrics on-call already opens, shaving seconds off triage.
- Preserved investment. Existing Grafana dashboards keep working; the team's prior work compounds rather than getting replaced.
- Operational maturity. Real-team usage teaches Nova's behaviour against real signal patterns rather than synthetic demos.
The Grafana integration is one of the integrations that pays off across years. Nova AI Ops integrates where customers already are; the discipline preserves their investment while extending what they can do.
