How to Analyze Performance Trends

4 min read Observability

Dashboards show where your system is now. Trends shows where it is going. Nova projects each metric forward with a confidence band, flags anomalies that break the pattern, and helps you act before a slow climb becomes an outage.

Steps

1

Open Trends

Go to the Trends page for historical analysis and forecasting across your metrics.

2

Pick a metric and range

Choose what to analyze and how far back to look. More history gives Nova a better forecast.

3

Read the forecast band

Nova projects the metric forward with a confidence band. The band width tells you how certain the projection is.

4

Spot the anomalies

Nova marks points that break the normal pattern. These are early signs worth investigating before they trip an alert.

5

Set a threshold from the trend

Turn a projection into an alert so you are warned ahead of time, for example before a disk fills or a pool saturates.

Tip:

Trends is built for capacity planning. Use it to catch disk-full, memory-creep, and pool-saturation problems weeks before they page you.
