Steps

Resolve the incident

After resolving an incident, click Generate Post-Mortem from the incident detail page. Nova will analyze the full incident lifecycle.

Review the AI-generated draft

Nova produces a structured document that includes:

  • Summary — what happened and the impact
  • Timeline — chronological events from detection to resolution
  • Root cause — AI-identified contributing factors
  • Action items — suggested preventive measures
  • Metrics — MTTA, MTTR, affected users, error rates

Edit and add context

Use the rich text editor to refine the AI draft. Add human context the AI might have missed, such as organizational decisions or external factors.

Assign action items

Convert the suggested action items into tracked tasks. Assign each to a team member with a due date. Nova will follow up on overdue items.

Tip:

Enable Auto Post-Mortem in settings to automatically generate a draft for every SEV-1 and SEV-2 incident. You can always edit before publishing.

Share with stakeholders

Click Publish to share the post-mortem. It can be distributed via email, posted to Slack, or exported as PDF for compliance records.

Track improvements over time

View the Post-Mortem Analytics dashboard to see trends in incident categories, recurring root causes, and action item completion rates.
