Large scale (10M+ series). Significantly cheaper at high series counts; lower memory footprint.

Drop-in replacement; PromQL compatible. Migration is straightforward when scale demands it.

Many teams run Prometheus for short-term storage and VictoriaMetrics or Cortex for long-term.
