Cost-sensitive workloads. Loki indexes only labels; storage is cheap object storage.

Tight integration with Grafana Cloud. Best for teams already on the Grafana stack.

Full-text search needs. Free-text queries across all log fields.

Mature ecosystem. Many vendor integrations, mature alerting, mature ML features.

Some teams use both: Loki for hot/recent logs, Elastic for full-text on a sampled subset.

Higher operational complexity; only worth it for specific requirements.
